THE ENLIGHTENED THINKER
Every day, people throw away food. At the same time, many children go to bed hungry. In Mauritius, more than 279 kilos of food are wasted every minute. Around the world, millions of meals are thrown into the bin while poor families struggle to eat. This is not only sad, it is wrong. It shows the deep pain of living without the laws of Allah swt.
We see rulers give speeches, hold events, and copy the United
Nations. But they do not solve the real problem. They let hunger and waste
continue, while people suffer .. The
system we live under is the cause. It is built on man-made laws. In capitalism,
food is not shared as a right from Allah swt. It is treated as a product for
profit.
Shops throw away food when it cannot be sold, even if it is still
good to eat. Big companies make too much food because they care about money, not
people. Rulers praise NGOs and awareness campaigns, but they never change the
system. They tell us to "plan meals" and "reuse leftovers"
while children remain hungry.
Allah swt warns us: "and eat and drink without going to
excess. For Allah does not like those who go to excess." (TMQ S7 V31. Yet
this system produces waste every day. It makes waste part of the economy
itself. The Prophet s.a.w said: "There is no right for the son of Adam
other than these things: a house in which he lives, a garment to cover his nakedness,
a piece of bread, and water." (Tirmidhi 234).
But under these rulers, even bread and water are denied to the
poor. In Islam, food is Rizq from Allah swt. It is a trust, not a tool to gain
profit. The ruler must make sure no one is hungry. He must give food from the Bayt
al-Mal to the poor. He must stop hoarding and stop markets from harming the
weak.
Islam makes hunger a responsibility of the community and its
leader, not an issue left to charities. The truth is clear. Hunger and waste
exist not because people forget to plan meals, but because we live under man-made
systems. These systems do not care for justice. Islam gives the real solution.
It makes rulers responsible to feed every person.
