THE ENLIGHTENED THINKER
We live under
humiliation, ruled by men and women who preach morality while
drowning in disgrace. They speak of dignity, yet their
tongues hurl curses in parliament, their lies echo in
public, and their hands reach for what is not theirs. The scandal
of Kalpana Koonjoo-Shah is not an isolated lapse, it is
a mirror reflecting the rot at the heart of the secular
order imposed upon us.
Our pain deepens when
those entrusted with leadership betray their trust. They pose as
guardians of virtue, yet their speech drips withvulgarity, their conduct reeks
of hypocrisy, and their greed knows nobounds. They do not merely disgrace
themselves, they drag the entire Ummah into shame, turning
politics into a circus of corruption and deceit.
This corruption is not
random. It is the natural outcome of a man-made system that places rulers above accountability. Secular democracy
does not weigh leadership by piety, justice, or obedience to Allah
swt's law. It thrives on manipulation, power deals, and hollow
slogans. When scandals erupt, the system bends to shield its agents,
silencing critics and distracting the people.
Immorality is not
punished, it is protected. While Islam sets a higher standard. Leadership is not a privilege; it is an amanah, a trust.
The Prophet s.a.w said: "Every one of you is a shepherd and is responsible for his flock. The leader of people is a guardian and is
responsible for his subjects." (Bukhari, Muslim).
Allah (swt) commands:
"Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due and when you judge between people to judge with justice." (TMQ S4 V58). Therefore, in Islam, betrayal of
trust is not excused. It strips a ruler of legitimacy. Theft,
vulgarity, and deceit expel a leader from office,
they are not shrugged off as private flaws.
So we must ask
ourselves: will we continue to endure a system that shelters liars, thieves, and hypocrites? Or will we rise to demand
the justice of Allah swt's system, where rulers are servants, not
masters, and where accountability flows from Revelation, not man's
corruption?
The scandal of one minister
is but a symptom. The true disease is the secular system itself.
We must reject it in its entirety and call for rule by what Allah swt revealed.
